In July of 2012, Dr. Lynda Loudon founded HHAF (Healing Haven Animal Fund). Dr. Loudon has spent many years as a veterinarian frustrated that finances often decided the fate of her patients. She decided that she had to do something to change this. Although it was Dr. Loudon’s vision that was the seed of HHAF, it was the amazing people around her that made it a reality. A group of animal loving people with big hearts and a common vision came together to create HHAF. Most of us work in the veterinary field and have seen too many sick or injured animals euthanized because they were strays or because their owners could not afford veterinary care. We decided we needed to do something to give more animals a chance at life.
HHAF is a 501(c)(3) internet-based organization staffed entirely by volunteers. Our work is accomplished via our web site, email and fax. We do have a telephone answering service but calls are only returned to veterinary professionals.
The organization has three committees and a Board of Directors
- The financial aid committee reviews and processes applications for general financial aid. This is, by far, our busiest committee.
- A fundraising committee that plans and organizes our various fundraising events
- A marketing committee that brings awareness of our cause to the community
- The Montauk to Manhattan committee which is a temporary committee devoted to helping Dr. Loudon successfully run from Montauk to Manhattan to bring awareness to our cause. There are several subcommittees including sponsorship, marketing, events, running buddies and planning.
